Sewing pattern description

The Archer Work Trousers sewing pattern by Matchy Matchy are designed for comfort and ease, featuring a relaxed barrel-shaped silhouette with thoughtful details like oversized, angled front pockets and a contrasting inseam panel.

Knee darts on the front and back legs, along with a back ankle dart, give these trousers their distinctive shape.

The elasticated waistband sits at the natural waist, with a relaxed fit through the hips and a looser feel through the legs.

The cropped length, finishing above the ankle, highlights the unique silhouette.

As with all Matchy Matchy sewing patterns, the Archer Work Trousers sewing pattern is designed with simple shapes and straightforward construction, helping to take the overwhelm out of sewing and making space for the joy of discovery.

Chelsea (short hair) is 5’5″ and Morgan is 5’9″, both wearing a size Small. Chelsea’s trousers were sewn without any modifications. Morgan’s were lengthened by 3″.

Suggested fabrics: For a softer, drapey look, try lightweight wovens such as linen, cotton, or rayon. For a more structured shape, opt for medium-weight wovens like 8–10 oz cotton twill, canvas, or denim.

Note: When using heavier fabrics, we recommend a rigid elastic, such as a non-roll waistband elastic, designed specifically for sturdier materials.
