Fabric requirements

Size One

  • Recommended Width: 135cm – 155cm
  • Yardage required: 90cm

Size Two

  • Recommended Width: 135cm – 155cm
  • Yardage required: 100cm

 

Size range

This is a ‘one size’ pattern which comes in two size ranges. Due to the zero waste nature of this pattern some design details may change between sizes

  • Size 1 (EU 36 – 44)
  • Size 2 (EU 46 – 52)

Supplies you'll need

  • 3 buttons (depending on your chosen garment size) approx 20mm  in size.
  • It is also optional to use a lightweight fusing for the neck band, this is only recommended for very fine fabrics.

Sewing pattern description

This oversized Zero Waste Cropped Shirt sewing pattern is designed by Birgitta Helmersson using a zero-waste cutting method.

It features a dropped shoulder, neckband, and button-front closure. The bodice length is adjustable, allowing you to customise it to your preference, while the garment width varies depending on the fabric width you choose. The pattern also includes two simple hack options for added versatility.

Method

This zero-waste sewing pattern comes as a downloadable PDF instruction booklet. Instead of traditional paper patterns, you’ll draw your garment pieces directly onto fabric using easy-to-make templates. These templates can be self-made or printed at home. The step-by-step instructions guide you through the process, with modular pattern blocks that allow you to effortlessly adjust lengths, add or remove design elements, and adapt to different fabric widths.

Best suited for woven linen or cotton with a weight of approximately 150–200gsm.
