Sewing pattern description
The Collage Gather Top sewing pattern by Matchy Matchy is a classic box-style top with a playful twist.
Designed to be sewn either as a patchwork or from a single fabric, it’s easy to customise and comes together quickly. Slightly cropped to sit just below the natural waist, this versatile top features gathered side panels and two sleeve options.
View A has a simple cuff sleeve — perfect for beginners. Techniques include neck bias binding, easing in cuff sleeves, and gathering.
View B features a 3/4 length drop-shoulder gathered sleeve, finished with a sleeve band. This version is best suited to advanced beginners and includes techniques such as neck bias binding, sleeve gathering, and attaching a sleeve band.
Recommended fabrics: Lightweight wovens work best such as double gauze, linen and linen blends, or drapey viscose fabrics like ecovero or tencel.
Note: The Collage Gather Top can easily be hacked into a dress by lengthening the Front Centre Panel, Back Centre Panel, and Gathered Panel pieces. Alternatively, a dress version of the pattern (short sleeve only) is available as a separate pattern.
