Sewing pattern description

The Daphne trousers sewing pattern by The Modern Sewing Co works very well in structured heavy to mid weight twills, drills, denims and canvas fabrics.

Tougher fabrics work very well for winter and the end result will give you a closer fit to the body, although before starting check you can easily sew through 5 layers of the fabric.

Lighter twills and denims are lovely in the summer as the lighter weight fabrics will give you a slightly looser fit.

As this fit hugs the waist and hips quite snugly it’s important to choose a fabric with a strong weave. To test it before sewing, sew a test seam and pull it apart. If the fabric weave starts to pull and split you will need to consider a stronger fabric to make sure the back seam doesn’t start to split and pull over time.

It’s best to stay clear of linens for this reason unless they are very densely woven.
