Searching for contemporary wardrobe staples? Head to Friday Pattern Co. Their menswear sewing patterns have a youthful vibe that’ll look just as good heading for a coffee in the city as they would on a countryside ramble. It’s a small collection but crafted with perfect execution.
The Modern Sewing Co. has a small range of men’s sewing patterns, perfect for the functional man who enjoys dressing well. We adore this pair of loose-fitting, excellently finished Worker Trousers, and recommend splashing out on one of their workshops if you’re a beginner sewist.
From a structured trench coat to cargo pants, VikiSews has a brilliant range of uber-cool menswear sewing patterns. Their designs will take you from Sunday lounging to Monday meetings, all with a relaxed vibe that’s ideal for effortless style.
Merchant and Mills are one of our go-to indie pattern designers. With a range rooted in tradition, their clothing is ideal for getting your hands dirty before cosying up by a pub fire. Layer button-up shirts with an old-school Gilet, and accessorise with this rather cool Docker’s Beanie.
One of the most extensive men’s sewing pattern collections on our list is from Wardrobe By Me. From Linen pants and long-sleeved t-shirts to zip-up fleeces and a dapper Jersey Cardi, their wide range of basics is beautifully crafted with everyday style in mind.
I AM Patterns has tons of simple, beginner-friendly menswear sewing patterns to keep the understated gents happy. Each garment is designed with function and versatility in mind, and we see a lot of potential to create an amazing capsule wardrobe with these pieces.
If you’re on the hunt for contemporary menswear, Grasser will be your go-to. Their sewing patterns are rooted in unique street style with just a touch of couture. Think oversized Adam Sandler-esque shorts, colourblock biker jackets, and a head-to-toe Denim Jumpsuit.
Who said that fashion had to be exclusively for men or women? It certainly wasn’t Seamwork. We’re obsessed with their gender-neutral sewing patterns, which make it much easier to find high-quality menswear in a range of styles. Parker coats, long-sleeve Ts, PJs; they’ve got it all.
Kick back like a classic Canadian gent in Thread Theory’s menswear sewing patterns. With an outdoorsy, traditional vibe, their no-frills denim jeans, button-up shirts, and long-sleeve tops are wardrobe staples.
For classic clothing that suits a variety of everyday activities, look to Jalie. They have a wide range of men’s sewing patterns that are basic in style and ideal for everyday wear, including comfy loungewear, sporty tops and a classic work shirt. Simple, but effective.
We’d describe this style as well-suited for arty, indie guys who listen to Bon Iver and love a woodland walk. Fibre Mood perfectly executes traditional menswear but with a modern twist, and the Egon Sweater is one of our faves from this whole search - high praise!
Men who sew for themselves? Women who sew for their men? Men who sew for their men? Yes. Yes to all of them! Sewing definitely shouldn’t be confined to the world of gals, and we love to see an increasing number of amazing, high-quality men's sewing patterns hitting the market.
If you’re on the lookout for more men’s sewing inspiration, we recommend checking out the #menwhosew section of Instagram. Get creative and find your people on this cosy part of the internet.
