Buttermilk yellow is the colour of 2025. From Timothee Chalamet’s Givenchy suit at the 2025 Oscars to Sabrina Carpenter’s Miu Miu dress at Variety’s Young Hollywood event, we’ve been seeing this light, summery shade all over the fashion world. Even Vogue is jumping on the buttery bandwagon, labelling it the colour of the season and singing its praises as it hits the runway.
At Good Fabric, we don’t typically love trends – if a colour never goes out of fashion, there’d be a lot less fabric waste in the world. Having said that, we are huge fans of buttermilk yellow fabrics, and if this craze brings more attention to one of our favourite spring/summer hues, we’re here for it.
Buttermilk yellow is soft, creamy, and just a shade away from off-white. It’s not as ‘in your face’ as bright yellow, while still harnessing the sunshine happy vibe of the colour. Elegant, charming, and just a little fun, it’s about time butter yellow had its moment in the spotlight.
