Fabric description
Gingham cotton poplin fabric in Aubergine is a true staple when it comes to creating a handmade wardrobe.
The aubergine shade is a beautiful deep purple that looks lovely in spring and works just as well for autumn makes. Being based in Wimbledon, we have a soft spot for the rich purple and green combination, so if you’re a tennis fan, especially of Wimbledon, this is a great shade to use for a tennis-inspired outfit.
This gingham fabric features a small check, measuring 2.7mm by 2.7mm.
As it’s yarn-dyed, the gingham pattern appears on both sides of the fabric. While this is a lovely feature, we recommend beginner sewists mark their right and wrong sides to avoid mixing them up.
Cotton poplin is a wonderfully beginner-friendly fabric. It’s easy to sew with, doesn’t slip or slide, and often requires very little pinning.
