Econyl is a fantastic regenerated nylon fiber made from discarded carpets and fishing nets that would otherwise end up in landfills. Developed by Aquafil, it not only helps reduce waste but also has a 90% lower impact on global warming compared to virgin materials, mainly because it uses much less water in its production. Meet the new 2024 addition to our recycled Econyl sports lycra fabric range – Bright Navy activewear fabric. This shade is very saturated navy colour, but it’s not too dark.
Econyl fabric in Light is our lighter version of nylon fabric. If you are sewing swimwear with this stretchy fabric we would recommend either lining it with our econyl nylon lining or doubling up on the main fabric to give you all the support and coverage.
This fabric works great too for all high performance activewear such as leggings, tops, sports bras and even shapewear.
One side has is a bit more shiny, other side is more matt. There is no right or wrong, chose whichever you prefer.

Bright Navy Econyl fabric is ideal sports lycra fabric for sewing swimwear, sportswear, dancewear and gymnastics costumes.
The fabric is made from regenerated nylon fiber, it is chlorine resistant, sun cream and oil resistant as well as protects from UV.
The fabric retains its shape and most importantly is 100% squat proof as it is dyed through.
